Managed IT services provider Canada Web Hosting (www.canadawebhosting.com) the has launched high-end managed services brand "Tenzing" (www.tenzing.com) to deliver advanced hosted business applications, reflecting the company's emergence as a sophisticated and focused company drawing on more than a decade of experience.
Tenzing founder and chief excutive officer Brian Shepard said that Tenzing's service portfolio is an expansion of Canada Web Hosting that offers "even more complex and demanding internet applications and websites."
"What sets Tenzing apart is our comprehensive approach to IT Service Management," Shepard said. "We work collaboratively with our customers, step-by-step, to address the entire IT lifecycle. With more and more mission-critical business applications running over the Internet, we see that even intensive technical support is not nearly enough for most customers."
There were two main reasons for launching the new brand according to Shepard. The first reason was that identifying itself as Canadian limits its growth possibilities outside of the Canadian marketplace. The second was that many customers looking for advanced managed services were turned away because of their misconceptions of web hosting."There's perception around 'web hosting' that it [means] shared hosting [or] lower-end services, so it wasn't really reflective of the more advanced services we were providing to the client," he said.
Tenzing's parent company, Canada Web Hosting, founded in 1998, will continue to provide dedicated hosting services, and Tenzing will benefit from its operations in British Columbia and Ontario, where Tenzing has customer service centers. Tenzing also operates on Canada Web Hosting's network and uses its two datacenters that are among Canada's primary internet exchange points, 151 Front Street in Toronto (www.151frontstreet.com) and the Harbour Centre in Vancouver (www.vancouvercolocation.com).
Nearly three years in the works, Tenzing has expanded on Canada Web Hosting's services to include investment in the development of an advanced hosting platform built around enterprise-grade Storage Area Network technology and a self-healing vServer that seamlessly supports VMware, HyperV and Xen virtualization platforms.
"Tenzing has developed a deep eco-system of partners and made very significant investments in facilities, tools, and processes so we can deliver a new level of service and proactively address every contingency a business might encounter," Tenzing chief technology officer Kelly Beardmore said in a statement. In order to deliver best practices, Tenzing said it has assembled a team of ITIL-certified "technical account managers," who will deliver the company's "Summit with Tenzing" approach to providing guidance and support to customers which includes "taking a step back on a day-to-day basis...to look at the big picture," according to Shepard.
The company explained that its new name is a reference to famous Tibetan sherpa Tenzing Norgay, who, with Sir Edmund Hillary, first reached Mount Everest's summit. Like the expert mountaineer, the company aspires to provide "expert guidance and IT services to companies challenged with the delivery of enterprise-class business services over the Internet."
